Financial Report on Hua Yang Bhd – Group Assignment

Each group comprised of 8 people, and we had to look at the company’s latest financial reports to prepare a report analysing their performance and forecasting for the coming year as well. Moreover, we were required to analyse the industry’s status and identify the company’s strategies. We used financial ratios and trend analysis to analyse the company’s performance and make forecasts.

It was a very challenging assignment, as there is no one correct answer and we lacked experience in reading financial data and making forecasts.

Nonetheless, we were able to complete the assignment as a group, while discussing and working together to understand. I was the leader of the group and it was my responsibility to manage the group and motivate everyone else to put an effort. It was somewhat challenging to manage a group of 7 people of different personalities, however, everyone put an effort and did their parts and followed according to schedule. Hence, the group assignment was a success.

Learning Outcomes – Financial Management

In this module, we mainly studied basic accounting, how to read financial statements, analyse them and determine financial positions of businesses. It was quite challenging as we didn’t study anything similar in the previous semesters and understanding and getting familiar with financial terms took some effort.

Nonetheless, the module proved to be very important and very knowledgeable. We learned to identify appropriate financial management systems for different construction projects and use accounting principles to examine the business’s accounts. We also learned about financial ratios and how to use them to analyse the performance of a business and forecast future performance as well.

For the module there was one test and one group assignment.
